2008 Ford Focus- Car Reviews
When it comes to small compact family cars, people all over the world rely on the Ford Focus. The four-door compact may not look special on the outside for the 2008 line-up, but it has got new features from inside when it goes on sale in late summer/early fall 2007. The renovation was necessary to give stiff competitions to rivals like the Honda Civic and Mazda 3. The 2008 Focus comes in base SE and top-line SEL trim levels. Ford is renewing its commitment to the small car market as an influx of younger buyers enters the market. Small cars make up the largest vehicle segment in the U.S. today and growth is expected to continue. The 2008 Focus will be poised to capture some of this growth when it hits the streets in fall 2007.
The four-door sedan body style along with a two-door coupe will be available this time. The change in the suspension retuning gives better ride/handling balance. The 2008 Focus retains a 2.0-liter four-cylinder as its only engine to give an estimated outcome of around 136 horsepower. For transmission it offers either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic for better performance and fuel economy. All versions are equipped with standard front side airbags and curtain side airbags. Brakes are a front disc/rear drum arrangement, and ABS is optional.
There is no change in the size of the wheelbase and also in the interior space. However, the 2008 Focus is about an inch longer and wider than the 1999-2007 model. From the point of exterior styling, this Focus is totally different from its predecessors. The dashboard and instrument panel are not same like previous models. Audio and climate information moves to a special cove on top of the dashboard. A standard auxiliary audio input jack is the main attraction. It also comes with Ford's tech- savvy Sync system that provides a single interface for connecting digital music players and cell phones.
With the 2008 Ford Focus on the horizon, both consumers and prospective buyers are getting impatient for its arrival.
